Sportsmen Acres, in Mayes County, is located seven miles southeast of Pryor on State Highway 69A. The Mid-America Industrial Complex is located one mile west of Sportsmen Acres. In July 1972 the Sportsmen Acres Development Company incorporated, and the town (the county's youngest) incorporated after only three families completed their residences. In 1980 the population stood at 218 and in 1990 at 181. The 2000 population totaled 340 residents. Sportsman Acres is primarily a residential town with one business, a convenience store, a town clerk, and one police officer. A church, situated next to the convenience store, is considered outside city limits.
